The DYNS program gave me a first look at how interdisciplinary research can be used to tackle challenging questions in neuroscience.

For me, the most appealing features of the DYNS graduate program are its emphasis on interdisciplinary and quantitative approaches along with the freedom to tailor coursework to my desires.

Justin utilizes virtual reality and computer vision to model the perceptual experience of retinal prosthesis patients.
DYNS offered flexibility and exposure to a broad intellectual environment, I met incredible collaborators across UCSB who helped me succeed as part of an interdisciplinary research team.
The aspect of DYNS that most made me want to come to UCSB was the ability to work in a cutting-edge systems neuroscience lab, while at the same time continuing my education in physics and math, and I sure got everything (and more) that I bargained for.
The best part of the DYNS program for me was the ability to tailor the coursework to my research interests.
